Elastics
Elastics (rubberbands) will be very important to your treatment. They provide "the pull" needed to move the teeth quickly, and in the right direction. Here are a few pointers which will help you get the most out of wearing them:
- Make sure you can attach them as directed. A mirror may be necessary at first, but soon you will be able to change them quickly and with little effort.
- For the first few days, the teeth may become occasionally sore. This is a sign of movement, so do not let this discourage you. As the teeth become used to this pressure, the soreness will lessen.
- Change the elastics once per day. A fresh rubberband is more effective than an old one.
- Elastics should be worn according to doctor's instructions.
